Come on in.
There's a lot of really good, real food in here. Some of it is accidentally vegetarian, vegan, gluten free or lactose free. Plenty is none of these. But it's all tasty and it's all real.
There's also some natural medicine in here. It's also tasty, in a conceptual kind of way, and if not, I'll hide it in some tasty wording so you won't have to notice. I promise.

Hi friends and readers! My name is Lorraine Ferron and I'm a medical student studying two forms of natural medicine. I'm also a food lover and total mess-maker in the kitchen. To me, food and medicine can be--and should be--the same thing and I'm fascinated by how foods can aid in the body's own healing process. I'm also psyched about deliciousness and I'm convinced that even the healthiest most medicinal food can, and should, be completely write-a-blog-about-it scrumptious.
I'm not a doctor (yet) so please recognize that this website and blog are not intended to provide any sort of medical advice. I'm just a curious student sharing my passion with the world. If you have medical concerns or questions, please consult a licensed medical practitioner.
And my goodness, thanks for visiting.

Education
I'm currently pursuing a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) and a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) at the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon. After passing all the exams and earning all the right seals and signatures, I'll be able to provide primary care in Oregon in 2017.
I am currently a licensed massage therapist (LMT) and a novice herbalist, slowly developing relationships with local herbs via various homemade extractions. I got my start in herbalism in 2012 in a year-long foundation course in herbal medicine from the School of Traditional Western Herbalism, where I learned the basics of herbalism including a few skills to make my own medicine from gardened and ethically foraged herbs.
Before starting graduate school, I spent several years in Portland, Oregon (my hometown) in various careers learning about sustainability, especially in food systems and the built environment. Before this, I spent four years in beautiful New England at Dartmouth College, getting a well-rounded education and captaining my college ultimate frisbee team.
